Born in Vitoria in 1992. He began his studies of classical piano at the age of 4, and then continued studying at the “Jesús Guridi” Conservatory in Vitoria-Gasteiz. During his apprenticeship at the Conservatory he attends regularly summer jazz courses given by the Juilliard School Of Music during the Jazz Festival of that city. At the age of 17 he began his study of full-time jazz with the help of Koldo Uriarte, Iñaki Salvador and Albert Bover, who are in charge of his training until his entry in Musikene (Music High School of the Basque Country) in the category of Piano-Jazz. From then on, he received classes from Iñaki Salvador, Bob Sands, Guillermo McGill, Joaquín Chacón, Roger Mas, Francesc Capella, Horacio Fumero, Mariano Díaz, Fred Hersch and / or Eric Reed. In 2012 he created Juan Sebastián Trio alongside bassist Arturo Valero and drummer Guillermo McGill.
At the age of 20 he recorded his first album as a leader with these members of his trio, an album, entitled “Lluvia de Mayo“, which he performed in Madrid, Valencia, Vitoria, Bilbao, Santander and San Sebastián. The project was recognized by the critics of District Jazz as one of the five best albums in the national panorama of 2013. In November 2014, Lluvia de Mayo received the BBK Award for Best Jazz Record of the Year in the Basque Country.
In 2016 Juan Sebastián is contracted by the prestigious brand Blue Note of New York to play in his seasonal club in Madrid.
In 2017 he released his second album as a leader, “Tribute”, alongside bassist Antonio Miguel and drummer Michael Olivera. The project also has the collaboration of the singer Cecilia Krull and the flautist and saxophonist Jorge Pardo.
He has performed in the 49th and 50th editions of the San Sebastian International Jazz Festival, in Budva Jazz Festival in Montenegro, in Ciudad Real Jazz Festival, Toledo, Medina del Campo, Vigo, Leon, Miranda, Ponferrada, AIE Jazz Tour In Route and at mythic clubs like Bogui Jazz Club, Café Mercedes Jazz Club, Jimmy Glass Jazz Club, Clamores Jazz Club, Clavicémbalo Jazz Club and Café Berlin Jazz Club.
He has recorded and performed with musicians such as Theo Croker, Bob Sands, Terrell Stafford, Javier Colina, Jorge Pardo, Pablo Martín Caminero, Joaquín Chacón, Víctor Merlo, Guillermo McGill, Daniel García, Antonio Miguel, Francisco López Loque, Michael Olivera , Esteve Pi, Borja Barrueta, Cecilia Krull and countless artists.
